Audi Brussels, the pioneering electric vehicle production facility, is celebrating a major achievement as it reaches the production milestone of 200,000 all-electric models. Since December 2022, the plant has been manufacturing the Q8 e-tron and Q8 Sportback e-tron, which are flagship electric SUVs produced by the renowned Audi Group.
The spotlight is on a Q8 Sportback e-tron in a captivating shade called Soneira Red, which is about to be delivered to excited customers across Europe. This remarkable milestone highlights Audi Brussels’ dedication to sustainable mobility and establishes the plant as a leader in the transition to a greener future.
Audi Brussels is well-known for being the birthplace of Audi’s first fully electric model, the e-tron. It continues to make significant progress in the electric vehicle market with the production of the Q8 e-tron and Q8 Sportback e-tron. By manufacturing these models, the facility solidifies its position as a crucial contributor to Audi’s electric vehicle lineup.
One of the notable achievements of the Brussels plant is its recognition as the world’s first CO₂-neutral large-scale production facility in the premium segment, certified by independent experts. This accolade underscores the plant’s unwavering commitment to environmental responsibility.
The plant’s dedication to sustainability is evident in its expansive photovoltaic site, which covers an impressive area of 107,000 square meters. This solar installation allows the plant to save approximately 1,881 tons of CO₂ emissions, serving as an example for other manufacturing facilities worldwide. Additionally, the solar panels generate approximately 9,000 megawatt hours of renewable energy each year, equivalent to the energy needed to charge 90,000 Audi Q8 e-tron vehicles.
Looking ahead, Audi Brussels plans to further expand its electric vehicle portfolio. In the second half of 2023, the plant will begin assembling the Audi Q4 e-tron, joining its production counterpart in Zwickau, Germany. This expansion demonstrates Audi Brussels’ commitment to driving the adoption of electric vehicles and further contributing to a more sustainable future.
