Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Travis Kelce may have some extra special support at the Super Bowl this year if his team makes it to the big game. Drew Barrymore has devised an elaborate plan to get Taylor Swift from her concert in Tokyo, Japan to Las Vegas in time for the Super Bowl so she can cheer on her rumored beau Kelce.
On a recent episode of The Drew Barrymore Show, Barrymore broke out a whiteboard to map out how Swift could travel nearly 5,500 miles in less than 24 hours. She explained that Swift has a concert scheduled in Tokyo on February 10 as part of her Eras Tour. With the Super Bowl taking place on February 11 in Las Vegas, Barrymore proposed that if Swift left Tokyo at midnight after her show, she could make it to Vegas in time.
“So if she left Tokyo at midnight…” Barrymore said with a wink, referencing Swift’s latest album Midnights. “The flight time is 11 hours and 35 minutes approximately from Tokyo to Vegas, so she might arrive at 10:30pm, but on February 10, leaving her a full night’s sleep. So she really could make it to the Super Bowl if — just if — it happens to come true.”
Barrymore even looked up a commercial flight option, finding a 12:50pm flight from Tokyo’s Haneda Airport to Los Angeles International Airport that would arrive at 5:50pm local time. From there, it’s just a quick connector flight to Las Vegas.
“I checked to see if there’s a flight and there is,” Barrymore said. “Leaving Tokyo at 12:50pm at Haneda Airport, which then gets her in at 5:50pm to LAX. And then that’s just a quick hop from LAX, so it’s possible. But no pressure!”
Co-host Ross Mathews seemed amazed at the lengths Barrymore went to plot out this theoretical journey for Swift. “I am so impressed…and also…get a life,” he joked.
Barrymore admitted she may need to get a life, but maintained that Swift is “worth it.” Mathews agreed, saying Swift is the kind of artist who comes along once in a generation, able to tell relatable stories through her music.
“I love her for girls. I love her for women. I think men love her. I’m just — I’m in,” Barrymore proclaimed.
While Barrymore’s elaborate cross-Pacific plan to get Swift to Vegas may seem far-fetched, the singer does have a gap in her tour schedule during Super Bowl weekend. After two shows in Tokyo on February 7 and 10, her next scheduled concert isn’t until February 15 in Manila.
Swift also has a personal connection to Kelce that could motivate her to make the trek. Rumors have been swirling for months that Swift and Kelce are dating, though neither has publicly confirmed a relationship.
Kelce fueled speculation when he attended one of Swift’s concerts in Kansas City in early July. They also reportedly spent New Year’s Eve together in New York.
If the Chiefs do make it to the Super Bowl, Kelce would undoubtedly love having his rumored girlfriend cheering him on in the stands. And thanks to Barrymore’s ingenuity, Swift theoretically could pull it off despite having a concert halfway around the world just 24 hours earlier.
It may be a long shot, but Barrymore has offered hope to any fans eager to see Swift supporting her Kansas City beau on football’s biggest stage. Kelce already has his team’s confidence as one of the NFL’s elite tight ends — and now Drew Barrymore has his back with a Swift Super Bowl scheme.
