Sportscaster Erin Andrews recently revealed that she may have helped spark romance rumors between pop superstar Taylor Swift and Kansas City Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce.
In an August episode of her podcast “Calm Down with Erin and Charissa”, Andrews directly addressed Swift, telling her “please try our friend Travis. He’s fantastic!” if she was looking for a romantic partner.
Kelce later talked on his own podcast about attending a Swift concert and making her a bracelet with his phone number, though he didn’t get to give it to her. After Swift showed up to a September Chiefs game, the internet exploded with speculation that the two could be dating.
Appearing on the Today Show, Andrews admitted she had encouraged the matchup between the singer and NFL star. “I’m the new Bumble,” she joked.
Andrews explained that after her comments went viral following Swift’s NFL appearance, Kelce directly messaged her “I owe you big time.” Swift has since been spotted wearing Chiefs apparel that Andrews gifted her from her clothing line.
While Andrews says she doesn’t have any inside information about their relationship, she did notice Kelce has a “glow to him” when asked about Swift.
Fans have been quick to speculate about a possible “Taylor Swift-Travis Kelce spark” as Andrews put it. Swift’s song lyrics often reference imagery connected to football and romantic relationships.
Meanwhile, Kelce has earned a reputation as an eligible bachelor following his 2022 Super Bowl win. At age 33, he’s remained unwed despite success and popularity in the league.
A relationship between the two mega stars would certainly be high profile. Swift’s critically acclaimed new album Midnights recently broke numerous records, and she remains one of music’s most influential figures.
Kelce continues to be one of the NFL’s top players at the tight end position. His Chiefs are regularly Super Bowl contenders, and his talents have earned him numerous Pro Bowl and All-Pro honors.
While it’s unclear if Swift and Kelce are officially dating, Andrews for one is rooting for the pair. As Swift famously sings on her new song “Karma”, “the universe watches when you do somebody wrong.”
Perhaps this potential romance is the universe rewarding Kelce’s years of quiet dedication to his sport. Or it could be just another case of unsubstantiated celebrity gossip.
Either way, both Swift and Kelce appear to be taking any speculation in stride and focusing on their red hot careers. With Andrews playfully fanning the flames however, don’t be surprised if this is a story that continues to spread
