Rap legend Flavor Flav has cemented his status as one of pop superstar Taylor Swift’s biggest fans. The Public Enemy hype man attended Swift’s August 5th show at SoFi Stadium in Los Angeles as part of her record-shattering Eras Tour. But Flav took his Swiftie dedication to new heights by meeting Taylor’s parents, Andrea and Scott Swift.
Flav shared several videos from the epic night on his Instagram. In one clip, he warmly embraces Taylor’s mom and dad, proving he’s now on a hugging basis with Swift’s family. “I’m honored to meet Taylor Swift’s Mom and Dad,” Flav declared. He also revealed that Scott Swift gifted him several guitar picks from the show to distribute to other fans.
This isn’t Flav’s first rodeo in the world of Taylor. He and Swift finally met face to face back in March at the 2022 iHeartRadio Music Awards. Flav also attended her June shows in Detroit while donning head-to-toe Taylor merch. “In my Red (Taylor’s Version) era and makin new friends,” he posted then.
Now, by bonding with Taylor’s parents, Flav has shown his dedication goes way beyond that of a casual admirer. Footage shows Andrea Swift embracing Flav like one of Taylor’s oldest pals. Flav rocks stacks of Eras Tour friendship bracelets, symbolizing each show he’s attended on the tour.
Other clips show Flav decked out in a Speak Now inspired outfit he labeled an “Eras Tour fit check.” Taylor’s mom even adjusts his jacket, treating Flav like a true VIP. Andrea herself sports a denim jacket covered in Taylor patches and pins.
The LA shows marked the end of the US leg of Taylor’s Eras Tour after a 6-month nationwide stadium tour. She recently announced newly added dates in 2024 following unbelievable demand. But after these final SoFi concerts, Swift will take the tour abroad in 2023.
As expected, the LA shows have welcomed A-List guests aplenty. Chance the Rapper and Dixie D’Amelio watched the August 4th concert alongside stars like Nina Dobrev. Channing Tatum and daughter Everly grooved along on August 5th.
The August 7th show alone drew celebs like Billie Eilish, Kobe Bryant’s widow Vanessa and daughter Natalia, Rebel Wilson, and Swift’s mom. With Flav meeting the parents, he’s now among Taylor’s most esteemed guests.
Flav has shown support for Swift since her early country days. His fandom grew as she transitioned into pop, and he frequently posts about her online. However, befriending Andrea and Scott Swift confirms that one of rap’s OGs is here to stay among pop’s Swifties.
Flav joins other loyal celebrity Swift fans like Dionne Warwick and Bob Odenkirk who’ve publicly declared their admiration. But by bonding with Taylor’s inner circle, he’s proven his standom is no passing phase.
Even decades into his career, Flavor Flav is still evolving. Once known solely for his huge clock necklaces as a Public Enemy hype man, he’s now the clock-wearing Swiftie who’s tight with Taylor’s folks.
From travelling to multiple tour stops to collecting merch and tattoos, Flav is as dedicated as any hardcore millennial Swiftie. His sincerity even helped him forge real connections with Scott and Andrea as more than just fellow concertgoers.
Some found it an unlikely friendship, but Flav’s infectious positivity and Taylor’s big heart have brought them together. Flav is endlessly cheering Swift’s success on, whether she’s breaking Billboard records or selling out global stadiums.
By proudly repping Tay at shows, online, and in Swift-inspired outfits, Flav proves you’re never too old or “uncool” to be a DIY-loving, bracelet-wearing Swiftie. Now that he’s gotten Andrea Swift’s seal of approval, Flav has cemented his status in the Taylor fan hall of fame.
