Polestar Expands Retail Network in Southeast US to Meet Growing EV Demand

Polestar, the Swedish electric car brand, is expanding its presence in the Southeastern United States to meet the growing demand for electric vehicles (EVs) in the region. The company is opening seven new retail locations called Polestar Spaces to cater to the increasing interest in EVs.

Currently, Polestar has operational showrooms in Tampa, FL, Palm Beach, FL, and Atlanta, GA, and it is adding four more locations. The upcoming Polestar Spaces will be in Charlotte, NC, as well as three cities in Florida: Ft. Lauderdale, Naples, and Coral Gables. This expansion is quite impressive, with Polestar establishing seven new Spaces in just seven months.

The Southeast has become a hot market for EVs and is the fastest-growing region in the United States. Recent data shows that Florida, Georgia, and the Carolinas collectively make up over 11% of EV registrations nationwide. Florida, in particular, is the second-highest state in terms of EV ownership, following California and surpassing Texas.

When it comes to charging infrastructure, Atlanta stands out as the leading city on the East Coast. The city has a well-established charging network that can accommodate the increasing number of EVs on the road. In 2022 alone, the number of EV registrations in Atlanta nearly doubled. This makes Atlanta an ideal location for Polestar to tap into the growing market and offer a seamless ownership experience to its customers.

With the opening of these new Spaces, Polestar aims to provide car enthusiasts and potential buyers with an opportunity to directly engage with the brand and explore its lineup of electric vehicles. The available models for exploration include the popular Polestar 2 fastback and the upcoming Polestar 3 SUV, set to be released next year.

The Polestar 2 has received significant upgrades for the 2024 model year. The Long Range Single motor variant now has an extended range of over 300 miles, thanks to a larger battery pack. Additionally, a new rear-wheel drive powertrain improves the driving experience. Both the dual-motor and single-motor versions have been equipped with new motors, and the front-end design now features the SmartZone, adding a touch of technological sophistication. Leasing the Polestar 2 also gives customers access to the $7,500 Federal IRA Clean Vehicle credit, along with various local EV incentives.

Visitors to Polestar Spaces will also have the chance to experience the Polestar 3 in augmented reality. The Polestar 3, expected to be released next year, aims to be the SUV of the electric age. With an estimated range of up to 300 miles certified by the EPA, this high-performance SUV delivers up to 517 horsepower and an impressive 671 lb.ft. of torque. It offers exceptional handling, road stability, and an exhilarating driving experience with its finely tuned suspension, true torque vectoring, and low center of gravity. Orders for the Polestar 3 are currently being accepted through the brand’s website, with deliveries scheduled to begin in the second quarter of 2024.

The Polestar Spaces in the Southeast include Tampa, FL; Atlanta, GA; Palm Beach, FL; Charlotte, NC (planned to open in June 2023); Ft. Lauderdale, FL (planned to open in June 2023); Coral Gables, FL (coming soon); and Naples, FL (coming soon). These locations aim to bring Polestar’s electric cars closer to customers and cater to the growing demand for EVs in the Southeastern United States.
