Actress Rachel Bilson recently shared that her 8-year-old daughter Briar Rose was quite upset that they had to leave Taylor Swift’s concert in Los Angeles early.

Bilson explained on her podcast that she took Briar and some of her friends to see Swift’s Eras tour show. However, they ended up having to leave before the final song because Briar’s friends were too tired to stay.

“We left early,” Bilson revealed. “Briar’s friend Aria danced her ass off to ‘I Knew You Were Trouble’ — she was feeling it — and then just turned around, sat in her seat and passed out.”
Bilson said Briar wanted to stay for the whole show, but her two young friends were ready to go. Despite the early exit, Briar did get to experience most of the concert.
“It was a really cool experience except that it was Briar’s first concert and I’m like, ‘Where do you go from here?'” Bilson remarked. “For my daughter to see this, I think it’s so rad. It’s one woman, she writes her own shit, she’s really talented and she does it and like, look at what she’s done.”
Later when visiting family, Bilson’s stepdad and brother asked Briar if she had stayed for Swift’s final bow. Briar responded, “I wanted to!”
Bilson said she tried to stop them from bringing it up again, knowing her daughter was disappointed to miss the concert’s big finale moment with Swift.
As a young Swiftie attending her first ever concert, Briar understandably wanted the full experience. Bilson now realizes the superstar’s dazzling show may have set the bar extremely high for any future concerts her daughter attends.
Bilson shares her 8-year-old daughter with ex Hayden Christensen. The former couple split in 2017 after nearly 10 years together.
The actress has previously opened up about how co-parenting successfully with Christensen comes down to good communication and always putting their daughter first. It’s clear from giving Briar this special Swift concert experience that Bilson is committed to giving her daughter joyful childhood moments.
While the early exit somewhat soured the night, Bilson was still glad she could introduce her daughter to the magic of a Taylor Swift show. At just 31, Swift has become a global phenomenon on the strength of her songwriting and performances.
For any young fan, especially a budding musician like Briar, getting to watch Swift command a stadium full of adoring fans is an unforgettable experience. It can teach important lessons about hard work, following your dreams and the power of music.
While Briar may have missed out on Swift’s final song, she still got a taste of the superstar’s abilities and saw firsthand her incredible influence. After growing up with Swift’s music, seeing her live in concert was a dream come true.
Bilson likely faces an uphill battle getting back in her daughter’s good graces for depriving her of the concert’s grand finale. But the mom only had Briar’s best interests in mind, taking home her young, exhausted friends.
The good news for Briar is that at just 32, Swift will surely continue touring and performing her hits for decades to come. Now that Briar has been to her first concert, she’ll be more prepared to go the distance at future Swift shows.
With Swift’s catalogue of hits spanning her entire career, Briar will have many more chances to dance and sing along to her favorite songs live. Thanks to her mom, this devoted Swiftie got to experience the magic firsthand.
