Metallica Donates $35000 to Tarrant Area Food Bank

Legendary heavy metal band Metallica recently played a show at AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas and made sure to give back to the local community before leaving town. The rockers donated $35,000 to the Tarrant Area Food Bank through their All Within My Hands Foundation.

Metallica took the stage in Arlington on August 18th, thrilling fans with a setlist packed with career-spanning hits. Their show was part of the band’s massive M72 World Tour featuring tracks from their newest 2023 album 72 Seasons as well as classic Metallica anthems like “Creeping Death,” “Kill ‘Em All” and “Master of Puppets.”

The concert marked a triumphant return for Metallica, who haven’t properly toured since 2019 due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Their long-awaited comeback and first show in Arlington was a smashing success with a raucous sold-out crowd at the home of the Dallas Cowboys.

Giving back to local communities has always been important for Metallica. Through their All Within My Hands nonprofit founded in 2017, they’ve donated over $12 million to various charities related to hunger, workforce education and more.

Before leaving Arlington, the band wanted to make a meaningful contribution. They coordinated with the Tarrant Area Food Bank, selecting the organization as the recipient of a $35,000 donation from All Within My Hands.

“We want to thank Metallica for this $35,000 gift, their on-going support of the Tarrant Area and for caring about people who may not know where their next meal will come from,” said Julie Butner, President & CEO of the food bank.

The donation couldn’t have come at a more vital time, with summer often being the most challenging season for fighting food insecurity. The gift will provide over 100,000 meals to hungry families across the food bank’s 13-county service area in North Texas.

In addition to the $35,000, Metallica invited three local fan clubs to volunteer at the Tarrant Area Food Bank distribution center during their Arlington stop. Fans helped sort and pack food that will be distributed to needy residents.

Metallica’s charity efforts through All Within My Hands frequently involve hands-on volunteer work like this. Since launching in 2017, the foundation has sponsored volunteer opportunities at food banks across the U.S. in cities where Metallica is touring.

The Arlington show marked the halfway point of Metallica’s massive two-year M72 World Tour spanning over 100 dates across North America, Europe and Australia. After blowing the roof off AT&T Stadium, the rock icons headed west for their next tour stop at Los Angeles’ Sofi Stadium.

Known for high-octane live shows, Metallica always aims to leave a long-lasting impression in the cities they visit – both through epic heavy metal concerts and charitable efforts to fight hunger and make a difference locally. The $35,000 donation to the Tarrant Area Food Bank and volunteer work with fans continues Metallica’s rock-solid legacy of giving back.
